Job Purpose Section:

Are you looking for an opportunity to utilize your scientific background and clinical expertise to support new product innovation, research, and generation of consumer claims and communications to promote everyday health and wellness? If so, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Principal Scientist - Wellness Medical & Scientific Affairs, you will be responsible for providing strategic medical/scientific direction for the Wellness/Nutrition and Dietary Supplements category of products for the U.S. business. As part of the Wellness Medical & Scientific Affairs team at Haleon, you will play a pivotal role advancing the trusted science behind our Wellness brands including Centrum, Emergen-C, Benefiber, and Caltrate with new research, claims, and consumer/healthcare professional communications.

In this role, YOU will gain the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Own the scientific/medical strategy for assigned health benefit areas/brands.
  • Be a key voice in influencing the internal & external business strategy development for assigned brands with appropriate scientific insights and direction.
  • Work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders to generate & translate science to inform product positioning and development of consumer compelling claims/communications for innovation and marketed products.
  • Develop and implement health benefit area/brand medical strategies inclusive of evidence generation, evidence-based claims, scientific communications/peer-reviewed publications, medical education, external expert/KOL engagement, benefit/risk assessments, etc.
  • Apply an evidence-based approach in supporting the development and approval of claims/messaging, product information, education, and research initiatives to support innovation and marketed products.
  • Develop and execute science/medical communication plans (i.e., CME, Ad Boards, Congresses) and scientific messaging as deemed appropriate.
  • Conduct scientific engagement with external experts: develop and maintain relationships with key external experts for Advisory Boards, one-on-one consultations, and other collaborations to help inform initiatives/activities and deliver on business objectives.
  • Evaluate the competitive environment, opportunities for collaboration, and current trends impacting the healthcare sector of Wellness/Nutrition/Dietary Supplements.
  • Build relationships and be a credible ambassador for Haleon externally.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in biomedical/health sciences/nutritional sciences.
  • 3 years of experience in Medical/Scientific Affairs related role in consumer healthcare/food/dietary supplement industry.
  • Highly organized and self-directed individual possessing excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills

  • PhD, MS/RDN, MD, PharmD or similarly trained healthcare professional.
  • 5 years of experience in Medical/Scientific Affairs related role in pharma/consumer healthcare/food/dietary supplement industry.
  • Strong background in the interpretation, evaluation, translation, and communication of science for consumer and healthcare professional audiences.
  • Knowledge and expertise in human nutrition research, naturals/dietary supplements, and/or health & wellness preferred.
  • Ability to convey complex scientific concepts in a clear, concise, and compelling manner.
  • Strategic thinker, analytical, and solution-oriented with business acumen.

The salary range for this role is: $159,773.60 - $239,660.40
