W&A Engineering is a growing, multidisciplinary firm offering civil engineering, landscape architecture, surveying, and program management with offices across the Southeast. We are seeking Senior Civil Designers to join the following offices: Athens, GA; Atlanta, GA; Nashville, TN; and Charlotte, NC. From working with clients and across company departments to site visits to producing plans, you’ll be involved in many aspects of the land development process.

W&A Engineering is seeking qualified candidates to fill multiple Civil Designers/Technician positions to assist our civil engineers in designing and compiling drawings and permit packages. Responsibilities in this role include completing simple to intermediate plan sets and drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other software programs to develop technically accurate, clean, and deliverable drawings that meet established drafting standards. The right candidate for this position will be detail-oriented and able to work independently as well as review work to ensure accuracy, make corrections to work from red lines and backchecks, and assist with maintaining documentation and project records. The primary duties for this role will also involve assisting with simple design calculations, calculates quantities, reviews technical specifications, and prepares cost estimates. The right candidate for this role will also be expected to maintain confidentiality on all projects, clients, and W&A Engineering operations.

Education

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Civil Engineering and/or Drafting

Experience5-15 years in a similar role is preferred working on residential, commercial, mixed-use development and/or industrial projects while with a civil site design firm

Requirements
• Experience working for a civil site design firm

  • Has strong teamwork skills and the ability to follow direction and guidance from coworkers.
  • Possess ability to become familiar with applicable governmental or industry-related codes.
  • Work experience in a similar role.
  • Have basic knowledge of civil design code requirements applications as related to land development, design specifications, and planning.
  • Develop technical knowledge of specifications and requirements related to commercial and residential development and related applications.
  • Have basic knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics and how they relate to land development.
  • Must have an advanced level of proficiency in the use of the following computer software: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, AutoCAD Civil 3D.'
