Ground One Landscape Design + Build + Maintain is Hiring a Controller Near Bloomington, MN

At Ground One Landscape we focus on award-winning landscape design and construction for high end residential properties.

We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Controller to join us on our journey to transform our bold ambitions into a reality! This position will serve as our first Controller, handling the financial and accounting operations of a rapidly growing organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic thinker, having an entrepreneurial spirit and a growth mindset to collaborate with our CEO and General Manager to grow the business from $4 million to $6-10 million in the next few years. This includes guiding the financial decisions for expanding our maintenance division services and creating other recurring lines of service.

Our offices are conveniently in Bloomington, MN and is easily accessible from all parts of Twin Cities metro area.

The following education, skills and experience are required for the Controller role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting;
  • 7 years’ of experience in accounting positions, including 5 years in a Controller position;
  • Expert level knowledge of QuickBooks Online;
  • In-depth experience and knowledge of accounting principles/theories (GAAP, FASB);
  • Proficiency in Excel and intermediate to advance experience with Word and similar programs;
  • Strong analytical skills with a passion for financial analysis;
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with integrated accounting systems.

Additional Controller responsibilities will include:

Ensuring timely completion of all day to day accounting activities and preparation of monthly financial statements.

  • Processing of A/R and A/P on a weekly basis;
  • Implementing real time job costing for individual projects;
  • Leading the monthly and year end closing process and preparation of financial statements and cash flow projections;
  • Creating and monitoring the budget and cashflow projections.

Creating a full system of reporting tools and accounting processes to support decision making in a data driven environment.

  • Developing budgeting process & cashflow management tools;
  • Creating monthly reporting for tracking progress of the business including KPIs, dashboards and reporting on other key measures;
  • Leveraging technology to extract and analyze data from landscape management software and accounting software.

Analyzing data to identify opportunities to improve financial results or address potential risks to the organization.

  • Researching opportunities to improve the financial outcomes of the business and preparing recommendations for the General Manager/Owner;
  • Supporting and training division leaders to interpret and leverage reporting to drive business decisions.

Designing and leading the financial and accounting division of the organization.

  • Determining appropriate roles and responsibilities of accounting staff;
  • Creating and implementing financial controls and strong accounting processes.

We offer a base salary of $110,000 - $120,000 with a strong benefits package including:
