Position Overview:

The automotive parts counter person is responsible for customer service and retail sales at the store. In this position, your responsibilities include selling parts, taking stock inventory in storage, and, if necessary, on shelves. The Parts associate gives every customer a positive impression regarding their overall parts experience at the store.

  • You can work with technology, such as computers, tablets, and telephones
  • You can work in a fast-paced environment
  • You have a strong sense of urgency
  • Able to work every other Saturday

Essential Functions:

  • Assist walk-in customers in selecting required parts, suggest companion requirements, offer specials, and ensure that the customer is aware of the entire product line.
  • Pull purchased parts from stock.
  • If the part is not in stock, determine availability and submit a particular order if the customer requests.
  • Answered phone calls and provide price quotes and other information.
  • Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
  • Verify ''will call'' and ''back-order'' files weekly, return them to vendors, or stock items that are not required.
  • Assist Service Technicians in selecting parts needed for repairs in the process.
  • Order parts that are not in stock after speaking with a service advisor.
  • Issue credit for returned parts, ensuring that the original invoice, or its number, is available to verify purchase and pricing.
  • When doing business with returning cash customers, ensure that their "cash account'' numbers are input to ensure proper customer tracking.
  • If your purchase was declined, notify the credit department. If unavailable, either decline to charge the purchase or release the credit hold following the dealership's guidelines.
  • Keep front and rear counter areas clean and uncluttered.
  • Participate with the Parts Manager in maintaining a Lost Sale Tracking program.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and a drug screen for illegal substances
  • Authorized to work in the United States
