Dress or alter metal surfaces, and perform miscellaneous shop duties as required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties may be assigned):
1. Grind, drill, bend, punch, roll, cut, saw, route, or sand metal surfaces using hand-held power tools and sanding pads/paper
2. Assist in the fabrication of non-standard parts and pieces.
3. Perform housekeeping activities to keep shop area and equipment clean and organized
4. Perform miscellaneous shop duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Equipment Used: Varies with assignment. May include any of the following power tools: router or grinder. A variety of common hand tools are also used (tape measure, center punch, square, cleaning equipment). Forming machines, rolls, punch, shear, saws drills and overhead crane may be used.
B. Certificates, licenses, and registrations: None
C. Knowledge/Skills: Very basic blueprint reading (referencing only) and tape measure reading, inch/metric.
D. Education/Experience: No special educational requirements. Previous industrial experience in a similar capacity is preferred.
E. Language Skills: Able to read and comprehend simple instructions. Able to write simple notes. Able to effectively communicate information to co-workers.

F. Mathematical Skills: Able to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division calculations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.

H. Attendance Requirement: Regular attendance required during scheduled shift and overtime as required.

J. Physical Demands: Manufacturing position; spends over 2/3 of time standing, walking, and using hands. Lifts or exerts force on items weighing up to 50 lbs. up to 1/3 of time (heavier items are moved using overhead cranes and/or forklifts). Spends 1/3 to 2/3 of time talking/hearing. Generally requires clear vision at close distances.

K. Work Environment: Industrial manufacturing environment with loud noise level. Facility is enclosed and is ventilated, heated and air-conditioned. More than 2/3 of time is spent near moving mechanical
