Grocery - Greensboro, NC - Harris Teeter Careers is Hiring a Warehouse Supervisor - Grocery - Greensboro, NC Near GREENSBORO, NC

Summary: A qualified individual is able to work a flexible schedule which includes shifts throughout the 24 hours of operation including nights, weekends, holidays, and expanding/contracting shifts due to volume or staffing issues. Responsible for the day to day warehouse functions involving the supervision of workers and coordination of activities concerned with safety of team and facility, ordering, receiving, replenishing, inventorying, order selecting, and shipping materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts, in warehouse, or yard by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Compares inventories to office records or computes figures from records such as sales orders, production records, or purchase invoices to obtain current inventory.

• Verifies clerical computations against physical count of stock and adjusts errors in computation or count, or investigates and reports reasons for discrepancies.

• Prepares reports such as inventory balance, and shortages.

• Walk, Assess, and Act on defects in assigned departments frequently.

• Communicate consistently, professionally, and frequently with associates, vendors, and customers.

• Advise associates on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems.

• Ensure effective labor scheduling of all direct reports.

• Review records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of stock levels.

• Manage outside contractors and vendors.

• Direct associates in order to maintain a high level of productivity while maintaining a priority on personal and team safety

• Using Inventory and Shipping Warehouse computer systems trace history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.

• Determine work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.

• Operate assigned departments to achieve financial objectives.

• Practice positive associate relations. Be sensitive to the needs and concerns of associates.

• Interpret company policies to associates and enforces safety regulations.

• Issue written and oral instructions 

• Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.

• Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.

• Follow Company's attendance policy.

• Follows and Models Harris Teeter’s policies and procedures.

• Other duties as may be assigned or required.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years distribution center experience – required.

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and four to five years of experience; or an Associate’s degree and four to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience - preferred. 

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization.

Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 
Directly supervises Lead People and all associates in the department, on average 45 associates per supervisor. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
