Minimum Education:

Satisfactory completion of an approved school and able to meet the requirements for registry forregistry/certification by the American Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
Must keep up with ARDMS continuing education credits.
Must have ARDMS within one year of hire.

Required Licenses:

[Idaho, United States] Radiologic Technologist and Technician
ARRT/ARDMS registration/certification required.

Essential Functions

1. Determines test procedures according to purpose of examination.
2. Selects transducer, and makes equipment adjustments according to nature of test, depth of field, and other specifications of test.
3. Conducts actual test procedure: moves transducer by hand over specified area of body and observes sound wave display to monitor quality of ultrasound image produced.
4. Records diagnostic data to be digitally archived into PACS.
5. Produces a permanent record of test results.
6. Checks all equipment on a regular basis to ensure proper orientation.
