Gritman is Hiring a Director | Laboratory Near Moscow, ID

Job Summary

The Laboratory Director is responsible for the overall operations of the Medical Centers laboratories. This includes overseeing the quality, service, and cost of daily operations of the laboratories. The Laboratory Director also performs administrative duties to include overall financial, operational, and technical management.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages and oversees the operations of the laboratories.
  • Assures the laboratories are operated in compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements, to include JCAHO, CMS, and CLIA
  • Responsible to ensure administrative and technical policies and procedures are followed and reviewed.
  • Develops laboratory budgets, capital equipment budgets, seeks ways to reduce expenses without reducing quality or service and implements new capital into clinical operations.
  • Improves efficiencies and works closely with team members to provide effective solutions to support quality and business objectives.
  • Works closely with hospital administration, staff, and physicians in all patient care areas to assure optimal performance.
  • Oversees staff, providing direction and guidance, and administers director functions within the provisions of Gritman Medical Center policies, standards, and federal, state and local regulations.
  • Improves efficiencies and works closely with team members and the laboratory director to provide effective solutions to support quality and business objectives.
  • Consults with the Laboratory Medical Director to resolve technical issues and recommends processes to correct problems

Job Requirements

Required Education

A Bachelor Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent

Required Word Experience

7 years leadership experience with 3 years technical leadership experience.

Minimum 10 years of general medical laboratory experience to include 5 years of supervisory experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of MS office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Email software. Have the ability to operate basic office equipment such as telephones, computers, fax, and copy machines. Must have experience with electronic health records and laboratory information systems.

Ability to read and interpret documents and instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret variety of technical instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

ASCP certification preferred

Environmental Conditions

Considerable walking and standing in laboratory or patient care areas. Frequent interaction with the public. May involve contact with patients who have infectious diseases. May be required to wear protective clothing (including gloves, laboratory jackets, face shields goggles, apron, isolation gowns, head and foot covers) while on duty. Must be able to tolerate the sight and odor of body fluids including blood/blood products, stools and sputum. May involve frequent exposure to unpleasant odors of various specimens and chemicals.
