Job Overview
Seeking a compassionate, positive, and supportive person to assist with activities of daily
living (hygiene, cooking, and transportation) and community engagement. Training in
CPR/First Aid required. Previous experience in caregiving preferred.
Client is a queer, non-binary (they/them) 28-year-old who has Down syndrome. They
love fashion, cooking, music, writing, art, theater, and drag.
Essential Job Functions
Weekend 1:1
Personal Support
Worker
Part time to start Mid-May.
8 hour shift (variable based on client’s activity schedule).
Flexible hours.
2 weekends per month (weekends vary, depending on client’s schedule).
$25 per hour with opportunities for overtime.
Plan fun and engaging weekend community activities and outings.
Serve as an advocate on behalf of the individual.
Provide direction, scheduling, and in-person support as needed.
Support and participate in client’s creative interests/pursuits.
Help the client prepare healthy meals and develop cooking skills.
Requirements
New hires would need to be fully vaccinated with 1 or 2 doses and booster and provide their card upon hire OR begin receiving the booster within 2 weeks of being hired and participate in weekly
COVID testing until fully vaccinated OR provide documentation for an ADA or religious exemption and participate in weekly COVID testing.
Help the client maintain a clean living environment and complete basic house
cleaning tasks.
Provide and/or monitor transportation with a well-maintained vehicle and clean
driving record to/from community programs and activities with mileage
reimbursement.
Meet the guardians’ requests and client’s individual needs.
Maintain a budget and submit receipts to life care manager.
Minimum of one year non-binding commitment strongly preferred.
High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum of one year experience working with individuals with
intellectual/developmental disabilities is preferred.
CPR/First Aid Certified (or willingness to become certified).
Ability to teach skills of independent living and work in tandem with individual while
providing safety oversight.
Appreciation for the arts and related fields.
Required to have fingerprinting as part of a background check process.
