TITLE: PACKAGING MACHINE OPERATOR LEAD

*Critical Position*

LOCATION: ARVIN, CA

COMPENSATION: $24.00 0.20 (NIGHT PREMIUM) / HOUR

PURPOSE:

To assist the Packaging Supervisor with the supervision of all Packaging Machine Operators assigned to pack equipment. Help with the direction of assignments and communication between production and packaging machine operators.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Perform all functions of a Production employee.
• Assist with the supervision of daily assignments and responsibilities of all Packaging Machinery Personnel.
• Assist with the communication between packaging machine operators and production personnel.
• Monitor packaging machinery performance (i.e. scales, check weight and metal detectors).
• Perform daily machine inspections to ensure company safety and operating standard compliance.
• Assist with packaging machine operator training.
• May be asked to rotate to a different area of the plant (same position and shift) based on business need.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to continuously work with product and equipment at ground level. Ability to inspect equipment and product. Ability to operate hand and power tools. Ability to move in food processing facilities (sometimes through narrow passages, in wet areas, or on elevated platforms). Must be able to work in different temperatures (working temperatures as hot as 100° to 110° F and as cold as -20° F to 32° F). Must be able to work in a high noise area. Must be able to move items weighing up to 40 lbs. Must be able to move boxes onto a belt, weighing up to 50 lbs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have three years’ experience in vertical form fill and seal machinery (i.e. Triangle and PacMac).
• Must have a minimum of 6 months experience as Packaging Machine Operator Level 2. 
• Must be able to troubleshoot electrical and machine glitches.
• Must have a good understanding of (GMPs) Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Must be able to read and understand written information in English.
• May be required to work overtime or Saturdays depending on business need.
• Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen, physical and functional capacity evaluation.
