The Market Pavilion Hotel, Grill 225 and our new retail bakery and store-front Café Pavilion. All of our pastries, artisan breads, baked goods, cakes, pies and desserts are hand-crafted from scratch using only the finest ingredients under the teaching of our Executive Pastry chef.
POSITION DETAILS:

Ideal recipients will have working experience in a previous baking position in a hotel, restaurant, or retail baking environment. Applicants must have a stable work background with the demonstration of being able to maintain a baking position with a previous employer for at least 1 full year. Recipients of this position will have a good food knowledge, must be detail oriented, and motivated.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW:

  • Production baking of Artisan breads, pastries, croissants, donuts, cookies, pies and cakes.
  • Glazing and preparing fillings for cakes, pies and pastries.
  • Must have an understanding and ability to scale recipes and ingredients.
  • Understanding of various types of doughs, yeasts and fermentation.
  • Experience working with baking ovens, steam injection and baking techniques to create desired crusts and consistencies.
  • Experience following recipe guidelines, mixing ingredients, laminating doughs, forming of pastries and breads.
  • Will be responsible for building recipes by following the company specified recipe standards.
  • Representatives must practice safe food handling procedures in accordance with S.C. DEHC regulations.
  • The Baking team member may be cross-trained to assist with food and beverage counter sales and ringing up food, beverage and merchandise orders.
To receive consideration for this position as a Baking Team Member, the Representative must be able to perform the following essential physical job functions daily:

  • Must be able to stand or alternatively move continuously in a confined area for 8 hours.
  • Must have the physical ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, and kneel frequently.
  • Must have the physical ability to frequently crouch, push, pull, squat and work above the shoulders during the performance of the daily job routine.
  • Must have the physical ability to use both hands for shaping and kneading doughs continuous firm grasping with both hands for handling cutting tools, tongs, cutting boards, spoons, etc.
  • Must have the ability to comfortably use a cutting knife to slice breads and baguette rolls.
  • Must have the physical ability to continuously carry up to 40-50 pounds of weight. Must have the physical ability to occasionally lift up to 40-50 pounds of weight between the floor and waist. This weight will be comprised, but not limited to the following items: sugar, flour, cleaning and paper supplies, etc.
  • Must have the physical ability to occasionally push and pull various items such as bulk food, paper and cleaning supplies, cases of bottled beverages, trash bags and containers, weighing 40-50 pounds distances up to 150 feet.
  • Must have the physical ability to tolerate any required protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses and other protective equipment deemed appropriate on a continuous basis.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School degree or equivalent (Minimum Requirement).
  • BA/BS degree or foreign equivalency.

Recipients of this position will be guest services driven, detail oriented, warm and amiable. Must have the sincere desire to serve and please our guests along with an attention to adhere to operational structure and detail.

The Individual will be required to perform all functions of their job to a Next-Level and high standard. The recipient will be well trained and will be required to follow the company's defined written documentation and interactive conversational procedures to ensure that we are professionally exceeding the expectations of our guests.

Must have an excellent aptitude and willingness to efficiently utilize operational software that provides the framework for our company.

Must have the personal goal of continuous personal and operational improvement to perpetuate operating efficiencies and company growth.

SCHEDULE FLEXIBILITY:

The ideal candidate will have good schedule flexibility with the willingness to work weekdays, weekends and occasional holidays. Hours vary from morning (4am - 12pm). Full-time applicants with wide-ranging schedule flexibility will be given first consideration for this position.

The individual must have the ability to potentially work holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas day, New Years Eve.

This position will require an average workweek of 38-40 hours. Over time hours may apply based on business demands.

COMPENSATION:

Signing Bonus will be provided after after 6 months of employment contingent that the employee works full time (at least 40 hours avg. per week) and is in good standing with the company.

Monthly Bonus Pay is also provided with this Morning Baker position. Meals are provided at no charge to the recipient with this position. Complimentary vehicle parking (small to average size cars only) may be provided in our private garage during periods of low hotel demand with this position.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREENING PROCESS:

Pre-employment drug testing is a definite reality in our company, and is a mandatory requirement for all eligible candidates. Contingent upon the candidate's ability to advance beyond the interviewing and background screening process, eligible employees will then be instructed to report to our company's designated drug testing facility in person. An eligible candidate who successfully passes the drug screening test at our approved testing facility will then be provided a Passing Certificate of Documentation. This Passing Certificate of Documentation on record will be required before the candidate is potentially offered a final position within our company. Applicants are encouraged to be aware of their ability to successfully pass our pre-employment drug screening test before investing any aspect of their valuable personal time with respect to our company's comprehensive application process.
