We are currently looking for a highly motivated and experienced AC Paving Foreman to join our team. This position will help lead our company's paving of complex and technical projects, and will train, develop and mentor our AC paving crew. Competitive candidates will have strong experience in all facets of AC paving (including placement, rolling and compaction of material), be able to recognize material quality and have the ability and commitment to construct a high quality product. Strong interpersonal and people development skills are also essential for this position.

Essential Functions Essential Functions

• Pre-plan and schedule assigned work based on project schedule that has been set up by Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
• Coordinate and supervise activities of field workers and construction needs for all phases.
• Organize and schedule necessary equipment through dispatch.
• Initiate, maintain and complete timesheets and other related paperwork on a daily basis and in a legible manner.
• Assign workers to their respective duties and make sure that they have the appropriate training and tools to execute their jobs accurately.
• Make sure that regulatory needs and safety measures are maintained.
• Assess the most efficient way to complete a project without sacrificing the quality of the work being done.

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job.

• Thorough understanding of construction procedures, methods, practices, equipment, tools, materials and utilities.
• Strong background in all facets of AC paving, including the placement, rolling and compaction, and quality management of materials.
• Highly motivated to train and develop the crew.
• Excellent time management, problem-solving, leadership and motivational skills.
• Ability to pre-plan, schedule and organize work and the work of others.
• An understanding of safety regulations and the ability to enforce those regulations to protect the employees and the company.
• Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects at different worksites.
• Ability to work in high pressure situations at a construction site.
• Ability to effectively work with Agency and Owner representatives.
• Excellent verbal and written communication is required.
• Willing to travel locally across Los Angeles County, San Bernardino County, Inland Empire, Orange County, and San Diego County.
• Valid driver’s license as driving on behalf of the company is required.

Physical Demands

• Frequent driving – up to 5 hours per day.
• Occasional sitting for up to 3 hours at a time.
• Frequent walking, standing and bending.
• Occasional squatting and kneeling.
• Frequent twisting at the neck and waist.
• Occasional grasping with both hands.
• Occasional pushing and pulling with both hands of object weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Constantly working around heavy equipment and machinery.
• Constantly walking on uneven ground.
• Constant exposure to excessive noise.
• Frequent exposure to extremes in temperature, humidity and wetness (depending on time of year). Primarily working outdoors.
• Occasional exposure to bio-hazards, including sewage.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position starts at the Operating Engineer's Union Foreman wage scale.

Relocation assistance will be provided to candidates outside of the local area on a case-by-case basis.
