MAIN FUNCTION: Performs material management duties by controlling inventory, preparing, compiling purchase orders required by the emergency department. Work directly with distribution and the emergency department to ensure supplies are present and stocked. 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3 year experience in a hospital setting. General computer literacy of Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel required with additional preferred Meditech experience. Knowledge of automated Materials Management Systems, accounting process, inventory control techniques, supply distribution methods.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Ensure par levels of all supplies are adequate to meet departmental needs based on reports from the clinical team. Avoid overstocking of supplies to keep inventory to a minimum.
• Ensure that all special-order products are available, as needed for each specialized procedure.
• Organize supplies and streamline reordering process. Identify items with low activity. Work to deplete old stock before introducing new items. Along with the Nurses Educator and Department Supervisor, educate staff on any equipment changes.
• Complete all requisitions for daily supplies and capital equipment. Obtain appropriate authorization and signatures on all requisitions.
• Work with Department Educator and Purchasing Department to effectively negotiate better pricing with vendors. Continually evaluate equipment and supply costs.
• Communicate any supply-rated issues with department leadership team. 
• Coordinate new equipment trials with Department Educator. Ensure that all trials approved by V.A.C. are completed with evaluation forms.
• Verify that all patient charges are captured, and that charges are in agreement with actual equipment usage.
