Gridiron IT is seeking a Sr Linux Systems Engineer local to Bluemont, VA, with an active Top Secret clearance. Essential Duties: Provision, configure and maintain Linux systems, including routine and complex administration, security, patching, firewall, antivirus, backup/restore, etc. Provide engineering support to the CUSTOMER Architecture, Engineering, and Enterprise Services branch Work with engineering teams to optimize system performance, including applications, network, storage, database and server technology Solve complex technical systems issues, including OS, web server, database server, applications server, DNS, LDAP, SMTP, etc. Develop process and technical documentation, including systems architecture diagrams Diagnose, isolate, troubleshoot, and solve technical issues Provide assistance with automation of software installation processes Create, test, and maintain Linux shell scripts Analyze systems to determine technical requirements that satisfy business requirements Lead the evaluation, selection and deployment of new technologies and tools on Linux platform Ensure completeness and compatibility of the technical infrastructure to support system performance Perform technical analysis and review of new technologies and identify potential benefits to the customer enterprise. Participate in requirements working sessions and perform code reviews Support project management tasks across multiple simultaneous project deployments. Troubleshoot and provide solutions to production issues Generate weekly technical team status reports in accordance with standard processes. Coordinate the review, presentation and release of design layouts, project plans, analysis and other technical team documentation. Ensure deliverables are prepared to meet quality standards and in accordance with contractual obligations. Ensure deliverables are prepared in a format to satisfy the project requirements, costs and schedule. Brief senior leadership on the technical status of projects and tasks Minimum Experience, Education and Certification: Master’s Degree or higher Ten years of experience and applicable advance/expert certifications for the specified area At the Governments discretion years of experience may be substituted in lieu of certifications. Desired certifications: Associate Systems Engineering Professional, Certified Systems Engineering Professional, Expert Systems Engineering Professional Desired Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities: System engineering (5 years) Linux/Shell scripting (5 years) Application Deployment Experience (2 years) Red Hat Cloudforms (2-3 years) ITILv3, RHSA &/or RHCE
