What you need to bring to this role…
- Minimum 1 year of solar installation experience; comfort in teaching about any portion of the installation process
- Ability to manage and keep the attention of trainees/students during training sessions
- Experience in and ability to coach, mentor, and lead a construction crew
- Ability to relate to and respect diverse populations
- Strong desire to help and inspire others reach their potential and positively change their lives
- Growth mindset and desire to develop a robust Workforce program alongside the GRID Workforce Team
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
- Proficient with computers and programs like Salesforce, Gmail, Microsoft Suite, etc.
- Passion for environmental justice, sustainability, affordable housing, the environment, or generally grounded and interested in making the world a better place

- NABCEP PV Associate credential or PV Installation Professional certification
- Minimum 1 year of classroom/laboratory workshop instruction at high school, community college or vocational school/program
- Training/instruction to historically underserved communities
- Licensed electrical apprentice
- OSHA Outreach Instructor certification

The Opportunity… The Workforce Solar Trainer is responsible for teaching the GRID’s Installation Basics Training (IBT) curriculum to learners in the classroom, lab and on the installation site. GRID’s training staff play an essential role in ensuring IBT is delivered at a consistently high quality that maximizes learner understanding, as well as their potential for obtaining employment as a Junior Solar Installer. As a result, our IBT instructors are carefully selected such that they have a strong background in residential solar installation, a demonstrated command of the classroom, subject matter expertise, and an ability to relate to trainees from diverse backgrounds.

Where you will sit and the places you may go…This position may rarely require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects such as company-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc. Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required.
GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.
