What is the SolarCorps Fellowship Program…
GRID Alternatives’ SolarCorps Fellowship Program is an opportunity for highly motivated and enthusiastic people to join GRID Alternatives for an 11-month paid service term. In this position, you’ll gain valuable experience in the renewable energy and non-profit industries while making significant contributions to communities most impacted by environmental and economic injustice!
The Opportunity…
We are seeking a SolarCorps Clean Mobility Fellow to engage with underserved communities impacted by environmental and economic injustice. The goal of the project that the fellow will work on is to provide income-qualified EV drivers, who cannot charge at home, with access to subsidized public charging.
GRID aims to develop a national consortium in partnership with the utility sector to create scalable models of equitable access to public charging. Our long-term vision is to establish a system similar to EBT benefits cards or the SNAP program for EV charging, ensuring everyone can access affordable EV charging.
The Fellow will be trained and supervised by GRID's Clean Mobility Senior Program Manager. The Fellow will gain valuable experience in the clean mobility industry and develop skills in professional relationship building, facilitation, logistics, and program management. These skills will be transferable within the renewable energy, education, and nonprofit industries.
  • Research and Analysis - assist with creating a landscape market research report deliverable that analyzes data from different geographies and utility types to see what works and where business models should be tested to provide proof of concept.
  • Community Engagement - help conduct broad quantitative and qualitative surveys with income-qualified EV drivers in key geographies, including Colorado, Northern California, and in the South, where potential pilot projects will be located.
  • Events - support clean mobility events such as virtual and in-person workshops with utility partners, tabling, canvassing, etc in order to increase awareness of the project.
What you need to bring to this role…
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to represent GRID Alternatives positively
  • Strong organizational, research, and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Interest and enthusiasm for renewable energy, community development, and helping families and communities in need.
  • When working remotely, you must have access to a reliable internet connection. GRID will provide a laptop, charger, headset when remote working is required.

  • Lived experience with federal assistance programs like SNAP or LIHEAP

  • Hourly wage of $19.61 for 11 months (Mon, Sept 16, 2024 - Thurs August 15, 2024)
