Job Summary: As a Warehouse Associate for our Grey Bears Healthy Food for Seniors Program, you will play a crucial role in the efficient and safe movement of food inventory within our warehouse facility as well as general duties in the Warehouse. Reporting directly to the Warehouse Supervisor, you will be responsible for operating the forklift to handle, transport, and organize food products while adhering to quality and safety standards, cleaning the Warehouse and Warehouse yard, driving the box truck, assisting with the quality control of the food, inventory reporting, stock rotation.

Essential Functions::

Forklift Operation: Safely operate a forklift to move, stack, and organize food inventory within the warehouse and coolers, following established procedures and safety guidelines.

Other Responsibilities:

Inventory Handling: Assist in the loading, unloading, and weighing of food shipments and donations, ensuring accurate recording and proper storage and rotation of products.

Quality Control: Work closely with the volunteers, Warehouse Supervisor, and Program Director to maintain high-quality standards for food products, including proper handling and storage procedures.

Warehouse Organization: Contribute to maintaining an organized and clean warehouse environment by efficiently arranging pallets and ensuring proper storage.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and following forklift safety guidelines.

Communication: Communicate effectively with volunteers and supervisors to ensure smooth coordination of tasks.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of donation weights, and other warehouse-related activities

Training: Participate in training sessions as required to enhance forklift operation skills and stay updated on safety procedures.

Adaptability: Assist in other warehouse activities as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to the overall success of the food program. Duties include but are not limited to maintain cleanliness of warehouse, warehouse yard, and warehouse vehicles.

Truck Driver: Occasionally assist with the pick up and drop off of food donations from local groceries stores or other places as needed.

Qualifications:

Education

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent reading, writing, and math skills.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience operating a forklift, preferably in a food distribution or warehouse setting. Ability to become certified is required. Must have excellent attention to detail.

· Must be able to come to work on time every scheduled workday as well as other days and shifts as needed.

· Ability to work outside.

· Must be comfortable working with a diverse population especially volunteers and senior citizens.

· Able to work in a fast-paced environment with customers and traffic and be able to move safely and provide a high degree of customer service.

· All Grey Bears employees must know and follow job safety procedures, attend safety meetings and training, proactively promote safety at work, and promptly report actual and potential accidents and injuries.

· Selected candidates will be required to pass a criminal history background check after a candidate receives a conditional offer of employment.

· Must possess a valid license to drive in the State of California and a clean DMV.

Physical Requirements:

· Able to lift and/or move 50 pounds on a regular basis.

· Ability to perform essential physical job functions typically requiring bending, kneeling, squatting, sitting, standing for long periods of time, walking, walking on uneven surfaces, handling objects, tools, or controls, pushing/pulling, reaching above shoulder level, stoop, kneel, crouch, and use fine finger movements with manual dexterity. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must adhere to safety standards and wear appropriate equipment to include safety shoes, gloves, and other personal protective equipment as required.
