Job description

Full-Time Educator/Teacher:

40 Hours per week

Responsibilities: To be an important part of a communication network that facilitates growth and development for both children and adults, the responsibilities may include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Implement age appropriate activities to meet the needs of the classroom and individual children in accordance with the philosophy and policies of this school
  • Assist teaching team in all areas of classroom management, which included setting limits, using “gentle guidance”
  • Plan and submit to Lead Teacher, activity plans at least one (1) week in advance of implementation always taking into consideration the individual children’s developmental stage
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, orderly and aesthetically pleasing environment
  • Create a curriculum using games and materials suitable for the children’s needs
  • Attend staff training and developmental workshops for a minimum of 20 hours (5 in special needs)
  • Opening and closing of the building
  • Responsible for recording observations of each child in areas of behavior, skills and development
  • Contribute to curriculum and goals of all children in the classroom at team meetings

Additional Responsibilities

  • Supervise and redirect children during open play
  • Aid in recording daily attendance and meal counts
  • Oversee the meal table, children’s participation and eating as directed by the Bureau of
  • Nutrition
  • Provide Lead Teacher with a list of needed supplies as you observe them
  • Recording injury to child(ren) in injury log, administer first aid and inform parent by phone or letter home
  • Report all inappropriate behaviors of, or concerns for children to the Lead Teacher
  • Assume an equal share of housekeeping responsibilities with the staf
  • Responsible for writing daily observations on clients
  • Attend monthly staff meetings which are held at the Center
  • Follow diapering procedure
  • Supervise Teacher Assistant
  • Maintain teacher/child ratios in accordance with EEC regulations
  • Completing developmental with parent upon intake
  • Submitting weekly VNA slips
  • Sending home notices to parents, for example diaper notes, etc.
  • Maintain individual classroom attendance
  • CPR certification annually
  • First Aid certification every three (3) year
