GENERAL PURPOSE
Maintain lobby and public space areas, as assigned by management, in a clean and orderly condition according to standard procedures in a safe, accident-free manner. This position receives minimal tips.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Check guest floors, remove newspaper, glasses on vanity tables, service trays etc. Check all wall and table lamps for burned out light bulbs.
Clean mirrors, dust all lamps and signs on ice machines.
Maintain the cleanliness and condition of guest hallway carpet.
Vacuum all floors daily as assigned.
Mop and maintain the guest area in front the guest elevators. Clean inside and out of elevator and elevators tracks.
Deliver additional linen and rollways to guest rooms as required.
Maintain housekeeping closets stock and organized. Sweep and mop service landings.
Deliver guest requests from housekeeping.
Carry communication device and maintain communication with housekeeping office.
Always be in contact with the Housekeeping Desk Attendant for all special requests.
Respond to guest requests and questions and report guest issues and complaints in a hospitable manner to ensure guest satisfaction.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be able to communicate in English.
Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
Ability to meet standards of appearance.
Can communicate well with guests.
Moderate hearing necessary as guests’ approach with requests and questions. Heavy communication with housekeepers/main linen room attendant, supervisor.
Excellent vision necessary to assess required reaction to meet standards.
Minimal speech communication skills to utilize alternate communication.
Minimal literacy necessary; can utilize alternate training tools.
Excellent hearing necessary to hear guest concerns along with management requests.
Excellent vision necessary to pick out areas that need the most attention.
Excellent speech communication skills to communicate with guests and management effectively.
Ability to read and understand the correct use of cleaning supplies.
Lifting boxes of supplies, pushing a cart and vacuum, pulling a vacuum (10 lbs.), carrying supplies (20-30 lbs.) daily.
Bending to pick up items on floor, kneeling to clean under furniture - frequently.
Mobility - will be walking in the public space cleaning all day - 8 hour shift.
Continuous standing - will be on feet for 8 hour shift cleaning and doing projects in the public space.
Climbing ladders of approximately 5-6 feet 5% of year.
No driving required.
Education/Formal Training
No formal education necessary.
Experience
Housekeeper in hotel or related service industry, desirable.
Material/Equipment Used
Chemicals/Agents used: Brass cleaner, glass cleaner, all-purpose cleaner, bleach, bathroom cleaner. All used daily.
Protective clothing - safety shoes worn approximately 100% of year.
Operation of vacuum, hand vacuum - daily.
Environment
Inside 90% of year.
