TITLE: Assistant Administrator

DEPARTMENT: Lower and Middle School (PS-8th Grade)

JOB TYPE: 11-Month Contract, FullTime

REPORTS TO: Lower and Middle School Principal

WORK SCHEDULE: Academic Year Per Contract (July-May)

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The major responsibilities of this position include spearheading professional development, providing teacher coaching and feedback, assisting south campus principals, staff, and students with daily needs.

QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS: The employee is a Christian with an authentic and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ in both their professional and personal life with a calling and commitment to Christian education. Must be able to work independently, multi-task, deal with frequent interruptions, and nurture and maintain a positive relationship with parents, students and colleagues. A high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality must be maintained when dealing with student and staff information. The ability to prioritize workload and meet specified deadlines is critical. Attention to detail and a preference for working in a time and task intensive environment are essential.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field is required (candidates currently enrolled in an MA program may be considered)
  • Possession of a valid Indiana teaching license
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads staff members in professional development through coaching cycles and differentiated opportunities based on researched best practices
  • Partners with teachers in selecting yearly professional goals for the improvement of instruction and encourages the staff to continue to grow professionally, implementing new approaches or strategies in the classroom 
  • Analyzes assessment data to monitor student progress and improve instruction
  • Partners with principals in hiring, developing, and retaining of the teaching staff
  • Supports the administrative team with discipline as needed and communicates appropriately with families
  • Coordinates the work of school staff and the admin team to develop and implement instructional programs and teaching practices 
  • Promotes a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, cooperative curriculum development, and student learning
  • Assists in building and maintaining a safe and orderly school environment that meets the academic, social, emotional and physical needs of each student

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Position requires prolonged standing and sitting, bending, stooping and stretching. Position requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Position requires normal range of hearing and vision to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Position requires occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Employee works in a typical school setting. The employee must be able to multitask, as students frequently need attention during a typical school day.
