Activity Assistant Job Description

Job Summary: The Activity Assistant assists the Activity Director to provide group and individual activities for the residents.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities as directed by the Activity Director and in accordance with each resident’s plan of care
• Set up activity area as needed for activities planned
• Work with nursing staff so they are aware of activities scheduled and residents who desire to participate
• Assist with transport of residents to activity area
• Interact appropriately and effectively in one-on-one activities according to the resident’s strengths and limitations
• Keep records as needed
• Chaperone scheduled activities away from the facility grounds as needed
• Help maintain a pleasant and cheerful facility environment
• Participate in and promote staff participation in facility-wide special activities

• Attend all required in services, workshops and seminars as directed
• Continue the activity program in the absence of the Activity Director

• All other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum educational requirements include a high school diploma or its equivalent
• Previous experience working with seniors is preferred
• Ability to read and write at a high school level
• Ability to work independently
