Description
The department of Engineering at Greenville University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The Computer Information Systems program mission is to develop and equip exceptional collaborators who impact the world through the transformative application of the computer and information sciences. Offering a bachelor’s degrees in Computer Information Systems and Engineering, the department participates in a highly energetic and synergistic academic environment. The career focused curriculum aims to equip creative and technical problem-solvers, communicators, and collaborators.
The successful candidate will provide an experiential learning environment that is innovative and relevant. The selected candidate must provide evidence of a vibrant Christian faith, clearly understand and internalize the mission of Greenville University, and articulate the value of Christian higher education. The primary foci are teaching excellence and mission alignment. In cooperation with other faculty in the department and school, the candidate will develop and deliver innovative courses at the undergraduate level, with opportunities for graduate level professional teaching. The modality is primarily in-person initially, with online and hybrid modalities to be developed and maintained as well. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, engagement in community and professional groups, and serving on university committees. A passion for working with undergraduate students in the Christian higher education setting is essential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF FACULTY:
1. Teach 12-13 credits in-person each fall and spring semester.
2. Develop online courses in the discipline (in addition to teaching in varied modalities)
3. Serve as Computer and Information Systems program director.
4. Contribute to further develop current and future programs.
5. Operate computer technologies relevant to the discipline to cover face to face, hybrid, and on-line course formats.
6. Supervise and advise students, praying for them and helping them in their academic and spiritual formation.
7. Perform University service including committee work as assigned.
8. Engage in department and campus service activities.
9. Participate in professional development, including grant writing and research activities.
10. Assist with recruiting and marketing activities to build student awareness of the major, as well as and student retention efforts.
11. Commit to the development and execution of experiential learning opportunities.
12. Excellent teaching skills and practical experience in the related course material is expected.
13. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to relate complex concepts to diverse audiences, and demonstrated cultural competency.
