Salary range: $23,028 to $27,942 (September to June)

Salary is based on education

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8:00am to 2:45pm

Thursday 8:00am to 3:30pm

Located in Northwest Yonkers, Greenburgh Academy is looking for professional 1:1 Aides/Classroom Aides to work with students classified with developmental disabilities ranging in ages 13 - 21 years old. This institution offers traditional studies alongside Community-based instruction, life and vocational classes, and a Transition program designed to provide career development and occupational education.

We are looking for a caring and dedicated individual to join Greenburgh Academy as a Teacher's Aide.

You'll work in close proximity to our educators and you'll take on a number of tasks surrounding school activities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with special education students in a classroom and community environment, possess strong communication skills, able to track student behavior. While this is primarily a student support role, Teacher's Aides also support school events, classroom management, and collaborative projects during the school day.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates a consistent, nurturing manner toward all children.
• Provide support to students during their lesson
• Assists the children throughout the day as directed by the Special Education Teacher or Administrator
• Supervises assigned child at all times (with the exception of lunch break, meetings and/or training), including during busing and transitional activities.
• Shares all relevant information related to assigned child with the teachers, therapy staff and/or psychologist.
• Participates in conferences, workshops and in-service training to enhance job skills and personal growth and development.
• Be an advocate for students with disabilities

Qualifications:

• Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
• ABA experience is a plus.
• Passion for working with children and helping them learn and grow
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with students on an individual level
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a dynamic classroom environment
• Experience taking data daily.
• Flexible to work with every student in the class.
