Ward Clerk- 3p-11p

1. Check appointment calendar and assure residents are ready for appointments.

2. Coordinate with transpiration aid for resident appointments - make copies of resident’s current physician’s orders, progress sheets, and insurance cards (when appropriate); place and have ready to send with residents.

2. Make sure charts are in order on racks

3. Prepare new charts. Update names on medicine bins in medicine room as needed.

4. Stay at Nurses’ Station to:

· Answer call lights and summon help to rooms if needed

· Monitor front door and assist residents and visitors

· Answer patient phone

· Answer facility telephone when necessary.

· File lab reports and other relevant documentation on patient charts

· Keep proper clerical supplies for Nurses’ Station.

· Assemble charts for new residents.

· Maintain orderly nursing station.

· Monitor medical supplies for Nurse’s Station. Make sure there are enough in nurses’ storage.

5. Any other duties assigned by the Director of Nursing, Charge Nurse, or Administrator.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING

1. Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.

2. Must possess the following skills:

a) Ability to meet and deal with a variety of employees, residents and relatives.

b) Ability to be sociable, courteous and sympathetic.

c) Ability to demonstrate a memory for details.

e) Ability to demonstrate satisfactory telephone etiquette.

h) Ability to demonstrate maturity and professionalism at all times.

g) Ability to maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance at all times.
