The Role

The Director of Logistics will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of CPG logistics operations across multi-state operations, including warehousing, inventory management and control, fulfillment, customer labeling, and product delivery. This role will develop and implement a strategic plan, enhance efficiencies, reduce costs, and measure performance of our logistics function. This role will partner with planning, supply chain, and commercial functions to ensure the monthly production and delivery plan is achieved.

Responsibilities

Essential functions:

  • Develop and execute logistics strategies capable of delivering company objectives across our network.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the logistics function.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to optimize warehousing, fulfillment, labeling, distribution, and inventory management processes.
  • Analyze logistics costs to identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Create a logistics staffing model and organization structure.
  • Establish and manage third-party logistics and fleet management for wholesale distribution.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies related to seed to sale, fulfillment, and distribution.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize delivery disruptions and inventory discrepancies.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate logistics performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive operational excellence.
  • Lead initiatives for process improvement, technology adoption, and automation to enhance efficiency, visibility, and scalability within the logistics network.
  • Implement safety program for warehouse and transportation activities.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including supply chain, operations, sales, and customer service teams, to align logistics activities with overall business objectives and customer needs.

Safety & Compliance: 

  • Be aware of hazards in the workspace.
  • Retain and understand department specific training.
  • Report safety incidents/ concerns and comply with follow-up actions.
  • Be compliant with area safety requirements, state regulations and PPE requirements.
  • Follow GMP, biosecurity, sanitation or other quality and compliance requirements.
  • Report and escalate safety & quality concerns.

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time while maintaining focus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Work involves daily exposure to allergens (such as cannabis, tree nuts, and coconut oil). 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in logistics and transportation management, with demonstrated success in leadership roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of implementing logistics strategies, driving operational improvements, and achieving cost savings.
  • In-depth knowledge of logistics software, transportation management systems (TMS), and supply chain analytics.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards in transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Certification in logistics or supply chain management (CSCMP, ASCM) is a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards in transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and lead effectively through change.
  • Effective time-management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work well with others while also completing individually assigned tasks.

  • Must pass any and all required background checks 
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry 
  • Must possess valid driver’s license
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
  • Must be approved by state badging agency to work in cannabis industry
