ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
Green River College's student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical, 15% Adult Basic Education, 3% Applied bachelor’s degrees. Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students. This is a Lead level position which reports to the Assistant Director of Facilities. This position will lead HVAC Controls Technicians and Maintenance Mechanics while performing digital controls and HVAC work on the physical plant. The position will provide training or guidance to both Control Technicians and Maintenance Mechanics in digital controls and related software. Responsible for overseeing upgrades associated with HVAC controls and Energy Savings Dashboard systems campus wide. May also participate with construction design and inspection of capital projects.

Position Responsibilities

  • Leads Control Technicians and Maintenance Mechanics in installation, repair, maintenance, and alteration of physical plant HVAC, HVAC digital controls and associated software.
  • Performs installation, repair, maintenance, and alteration of physical plant HVAC, HVAC digital controls and associated software.
  • Reads plans and blueprints, determines scope of work and materials needed.
  • Follows safety rules and regulations.
  • Preforms repairs on refrigeration systems and has Universal EPA refrigerant license.
  • Reviews, writes, and schedules work orders and maintenance requests along with balancing manpower requirements.
  • Assist in building inspections and data collecting to determine necessary repairs and project costs.
  • Monitors Energy Savings Dashboard and makes recommendations on measures to reduce energy consumption to the physical plant.
  • May work at offsite satellite campuses as needed.
  • Maintain records on work performed and write reports as required.
  • Assure proper preventative maintenance program is followed and updated as needed.
  • Takes required courses offered to maintain latest trends or training to maintain equipment and control systems (May require travel).
  • Maintains and repairs HVAC and lighting Control programs such as Siemens Insight, Desigo CC, Navigator, RENO, Triduum, Hubble and Lutron systems.
  • Supervise, train and mentor employees in HVAC, digital controls or other related fields.
  • Thorough knowledge of WISHA/OSHA regulations related to the electrical trade, the National Electric Code, local jurisdiction codes, and Underwriters rules for wiring and installation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Diagnose HVAC and HVAC deficiencies, communicate findings, order appropriate parts and make timely repairs.
  • Participates in an on-call rotation to respond to afterhours campus needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Possession of a valid drivers license
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Certification in HVAC and/or HVAC digital controls, Minimum 5 years field experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vast knowledge working with Siemens Controls and program writing.
  • Possession of a Boiler Operators Certification
  • Training in Sustainability and Energy Conservation
  • Familiar with the Clean Buildings Act and completion of PSE Clean Buildings Accelerator Training
  • Ability to work with a Computer Maintenance Management System.
  • Experience in a union environment.
  • Experience conducting HVAC and Control system maintenance at an institution of Higher Education
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Washington State valid driver’s license

  • EPA Universal Refrigeration License
  • Siemens Control System Training Certifications

  • Work in an office setting with frequent interruptions.
  • May need to carry, lift or move equipment/supplies up to 50 lbs
  • Work schedule: Possible Overtime or weekend work as needed
  • Term of Position: 12 months
