JOB TITLE:

Facilities and Construction Director

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We seek a dynamic Facilities and Construction Director to oversee the development, maintenance, and safety of our facilities and construction projects, including repairs, remodels, and new construction. The ideal candidate will have a strong facility and construction project management background and a proven track record of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced and diverse environment. This director will lead our efforts in managing and optimizing the organization's physical infrastructure, including office spaces, properties, and construction projects in the Central Texas area, and will oversee the maintenance and management of vehicles, vessels, and IT/security systems. This role involves independent leadership and collaboration with the CEO of the family office, the domestic manager, and others on facility needs, repairs, and improvements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the maintenance, renovation, and improvement of company facilities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and budgetary guidelines.
  • Oversee all aspects of facilities management, including building maintenance, repairs, renovations, security, and janitorial services.
  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of construction projects, from conceptualization to completion, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, building codes, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external vendors, architects, engineers, and contractors to define project scope, timelines, and budgets.
  • Conduct regular inspections and assessments of facilities to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to facilities management, construction, and safety protocols.
  • Manage facilities-related budgets, expenditures, and contracts, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • Manage teams of professionals responsible for vehicles, vessels, and technical aspects of the properties.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to facilities management staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Other responsibilities as determined necessary within the scope of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in facilities management, construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in facilities and construction project management, with demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing facilities and construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of building systems, codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time and within budget.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of security systems, electronic garage systems, and network security.
  • Certification in facilities management, construction management, or related fields is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle (standard and automatic), watercraft, and golf cart.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods.

DIRECT REPORT:

This position will report directly to the Director of the family office but will have occasional contact with the family. The family office and Domestic Manager will be in constant contact to collaborate on serving the family’s needs.
