Green Lake Strength & Conditioning is Hiring a General manager Near Seattle, WA

Green Lake Strength & Conditioning is a community of athletes who find strength, confidence, and connection by pursuing lifelong health and fitness together. We’ve been in Green Lake for over 15 years, and in 2020 changed ownership to Kate and Nate Muller, two long-time members. We disaffiliated from CrossFit, but we still use METCON style workouts, functional fitness, and more in our programming.

A successful GM candidate will

  • Have a passion for sales and efficient operations in a small business
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge and passion for fitness
  • Be humble in attitude but confident in their abilities
  • Be driven to constantly learn and improve
  • Understand the vision of the CEO and be committed to implementing it
  • Have strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Be well spoken and comfortable with in-person, over-the-phone, and online communication
  • Be able to manage others and help others improve performance
  • Have strong skills in social media, spreadsheets, website management, and general computing

General Manager Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of gym operations, including staff management, membership sales, client retention, systems, technology, and equipment.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise gym staff, including coaches, front desk personnel, and cleaning staff.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive membership growth and retention.
  • Monitor key performance metrics and make data-driven decisions to improve gym performance.
  • Ensure a high standard of customer service by addressing member issues and inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop and execute promotional campaigns and events.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to continuously improve gym operations.

Group Coach Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming, friendly, and encouraging environment for all athletes.
  • Foster community between athletes.
  • Provide coaching and training to group classes to ensure athlete safety and improvement.
  • Read, understand, and effectively deliver group programming.
  • Design and implement group warm-up protocols.
  • Provide feedback and cues (during classes and post-training) for athlete improvement.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Promote and exemplify the values of Green Lake Strength & Conditioning.
  • Maintain adherence with gym rules and regulations for yourself and everyone else in the gym.
  • Maintain operation, cleanliness, and organization of the equipment and facility.
  • Calmly and competently respond to emergency situations.
  • Participate and contribute to staff meetings and staff education events.
  • Actively engage in professional development and continuing education.

Required Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of group fitness coaching experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a managerial role
  • Coaching certification (such as L1 CrossFit certification, SCSC, PPSC, OPEX, etc.)
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred

Hours and Compensation

This is a full-time (40 hour/week) position. The exact hours will vary based on gym needs, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends with at least 10 hours per week of coaching and 20 hours per week admin and/or sales. The remaining hours will fluctuate depending on the gym’s needs.

Competitive salary ($60-80k/yr) based on experience, with upside via personal training hours.
