Green Dot Public Schools Tennessee is Hiring an ESL Curriculum Specialist Near Memphis, TN

OPPORTUNITY

The ESL Curriculum Specialist will join a collaborative academic team and focus on supporting teachers in the implementation of Green Dot Tennessee’s academic program.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Model Execution and Oversight

  • Promote instructional methods and practices that support academic growth and language development of MLLs
  • Work collaboratively with the Managing Director of Student Experience and Access and the Chief Schools Officer, school site administration and department chairs/teacher leaders to plan and facilitate professional development
  • Support school administrators with creating plans for collaboration between teachers serving EL students so that ILPs are developed and implemented by all educators.
  • Work collaboratively with school administrators to implement family engagement strategies
  • Develop and provide English language acquisition training for general education teachers to understand the process of acquiring a second or subsequent language
  • Work in partnership with the EL Program Manager to support English Language Development compliance-related work as support as needed
  • Provide Additional Data to School Support Teams when ELs are being considered for academic intervention.

Curriculum and Instruction

  • Work collaboratively with school-site Curriculum Specialists to develop and/or refine standards-based curriculum to incorporate ELD standards by determining prominent WIDA Key Uses, accompanying Language Expectations (Interpretive and Expressive), and associated Language Functions and Features within a unit of study.
  • Utilize Green Dot’s coaching model provide opportunities for teacher reflection on classroom observations
  • Provide actionable feedback that is based on qualitative or quantitative data gathered during observance of part or complete instructional cycle including: intellectual preparation and planning, lesson delivery, data analysis, and reflection.
  • Demonstrate comprehensible input strategies/activities, model appropriate forms of formative

assessment/evaluation, and provide teachers with research-based instructional strategies

  • Train teachers of MLLs to manage, interpret and use assessment data and facilitate the analysis of data and student work to guide instructional decisions
  • Assist EL Program Manager with collection and analysis of classroom and gradebook data

Assessment

  • Assist Managing Director with collection and analysis of formative and summative assessment data
  • Provide training and resources for state ELPA assessment and support Building Test Coordinators (BTCs) with implementation of Green Dot’s ELPA Assessment Plan.

Communication

  • Prepare and disseminate weekly updates to ESL teachers
  • Work collaboratively with the Managing Director to prepare and disseminate monthly newsletter

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 4 years of middle or high school ESL and/or core content teaching experience
  • Valid Tennessee ESL teaching license or endorsement
  • Teaching experience with diverse student populations in an urban setting preferred
  • Master in Education (preferred)
  • Solid knowledge of TN Rule 0520-01-19, and Titles I, II, and VI
  • Experience supporting teachers, planning professional development, and coordinating instruction and intervention.
  • Experience with WIDA Assessments ACCESS and Screener, and WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework, 2020 Edition
  • Experience developing and facilitating professional development
  • Experience in collaborative planning and delivery of differentiated staff development to classroom teachers
  • Experience monitoring student data to track performance and determine appropriate next steps
  • Ability to travel to school sites/locations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in EXCEL, Google Sheets, Google Drive, Microsoft TEAMS and Zoom

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000. Final salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience. This role is year-round.
