Field Manager

Position Description:

This position is responsible for managing landscape maintenance / installation projects to complete as per contract specifications. In addition, Field Managers must develop the people that report to them. Success in this position is indicated by jobs in which contracts are renewed, jobs completed in the budgeted hours, and low/negative turnover of assistants and crew members. The position must cooperate with other Landscape Field Managers and Enhancement Field Mangers to see that the overall goals of the branch are met.

Minimum Requirements:

• Demonstrate skill and ability managing others at other levels.
• Demonstrate skill and ability working with customers.
• At least two years of experience doing Commercial Maintenance or Enhancement work in a commercial setting (preferred).
• Two-or four-year horticultural or related degree and two years industry experience (preferred).

Additional industry experience or industry certifications can substitute for non-related degree, two-year degree or no degree.

• Ability to identify and diagnose insect and disease problems and schedule appropriate treatment.
• Working knowledge of vehicles and equipment used in contract maintenance and snow removal.
• Valid drivers license with a clean record over the last three years. Ability to pass urine test for drivers.
• Able to lift 50lbs and work on feet for most of the work day.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop a clear understanding of the philosophies by which the company operates, the short-and long-term goals for the branch and the financial position of the branch.
• Get to know your people in an effort to help develop within the company. Set goals with them and monitor their progress through timely formal and informal evaluations.
• Be an active part of our training process by attending or conducting certification training sessions on a regular basis.
• Plan, schedule and supervise daily production activities on assigned contracts.
• Develop a clear understanding of the hourly and cost budgets for each of your jobs. Monitor by reviewing job hours, reports and job costs regularly and taking action as needed. Communicate budget hours to assistants and crew members.
• Monitor quality of work and be proactive in bringing issues to the customer’s attention by inspecting the job at the end of each day.
• Present and/or sell enhancement services to existing clients.
• Maintain assigned vehicle and equipment in good working order.

Scope of Decision Making:

• Makes all decisions regarding the production of contract work on a day-to-day basis, including customer service issues. Also makes decisions related to hiring and evaluating assistants and crew members.

Routine Duties:

• Monitor start and end of day routines with your crew.
• Complete and submit timesheets on a daily basis and any other job related paperwork.
• Maintain your vehicle and equipment so that it reflects our image and provides a safe operating environment for other employees.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
