The Quality Manager will ensure finished castings meet Company and customer quality standards for material and dimensional specifications, defects, etc.Handle all customer inquiries and questions concerning casting quality problems in a timely and complete manner.What You'll Do:Develop, implement, and oversee appropriate quality assurance programs and procedures consistent with overall Company objectives, including TS16949 and Grede Reliability in Product (GRIP) initiatives.Provide technical expertise to lab technicians involved in process control activities, ensuring adherence to accepted company and industry test standards.Maintain communications with customers on quality related issues.Act as the advocate for customers on all matters related to quality.Collect, analyze, and retain a wide variety of statistical and related quality assurance data.Make recommendations based on analysis or act within the limits of standard practice based on inspection findings.Ensure proper inspection of all incoming material and completion of resulting documentation.Maintain close contact with operations and scheduling personnel to anticipate and resolve quality problems.Review all casting specifications on new work to ensure customer requirements can be met.Complete a wide variety of reports, projects, or studies to continuously improve quality and reduce costs.Initiate and direct audits and quality reviews in accordance with the requirements of Quality Systems and TS16949 to ensure foundry operations and process controls are completed in accordance with the quality manual.Provide and maintain staff for development and growth to meet both short and long-term objectives.Prepare the department budget and administer and control the approved budget during the business year.Utilize delay time constructively by doing housekeeping or other area improvement activities.Participate in area continuous improvement efforts including Employee Involvement activities.Personal attendance record should remain in compliance with company guidelines.This list is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties as necessary. Able to work overtime as assigned. What We Need From You:Approach work assignments in a positive manner and function as a team member. Bachelor’s degree in related discipline, or equivalent. Five to seven years’ experience preferred; willing to train the right candidate.Supervise highly diversified journey work. Formulate new approaches.Supervise diversified operations or procedures and manage important related staff functions.Formulate and apply technical practices. Make decisions with applied technology.Internal contacts on controversial/technical matters. General external contacts.Light physical effort. May require walking, bending, standing and/or sitting throughout shift. Must be willing and able to wear all required PPE.
