Greater West Town Community Development Project is Hiring a Vocational Training Instructor Near Chicago, IL

Position: Vocational Training Instructor

Position Overview:
The role of the Vocational Training Instructor is vital in guiding students toward successful careers in Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics (TDL). The Vocational Training Instructor will develop and implement tailored curricula, connecting students with employers, managing caseloads, and fostering a positive learning environment. This position reports directly to the Director of Vocational Training.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive vocational training curricula tailored to the needs of the Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics industry.
  • Assist students in accessing and utilizing technology-based resources for effective instructional purposes.
  • Assess the vocational training needs of students and develop strategic service strategies to enhance their learning experience.
  • Deliver individualized and group-based instruction, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Coordinate referrals and establish follow-up procedures with employer partners, fostering strong connections between students and potential employers.
  • Actively participate in outreach initiatives and intake processes, engaging with prospective students and promoting vocational training opportunities.
  • Manage a caseload of vocational training participants, providing ongoing support, guidance, and tracking progress throughout the training program.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Relevant experience and expertise in the Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics industry.
  • Strong instructional skills with the ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning styles.
  • Proficiency in utilizing technology for instructional purposes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and requirements.
  • Ability to assess individual needs and develop tailored service strategies.
  • Experience in coordinating with employer partners for student placement.
  • Experience teaching
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • B.A. degree preferred, or 4 years related experience
  • Bilingual helpful
  • Commitment to community service
  • Industry Certification a Plus

Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, permanent, career position. The salary is commensurate with experience. The agency benefit package includes health, life, and disability insurance, a retirement plan, and a bonus program.

GWTP’s Vocational Training Program: Hands-on skill training, career counseling, and job placement in two high-growth economic sectors—Woodworking & Solid Surface
Manufacturing, and Shipping & Receiving

GWTP’s West Town Academy alternative high school and Youth Employment programs: Pioneering initiatives that address Chicago’s longstanding and persistent high school dropout crisis and reclaim some of our community’s most at-risk youth.
GWTP Youth programs help young people earn their high school diploma, continue to post-secondary education and/or advanced technical training opportunities, and find permanent career-path employment.

GWTP’s Adult Employment Services Program: Provides comprehensive skills assessment, career counseling, support services, and direct job placement to unemployed people to enable them to rejoin the workforce and to ensure their success in the workplace.

Pay: $38,000.00 - $57,000.00 per year
