POSITION SUMMARY: Camp Soar is looking for a
Sports-N-Games Specialist ! The Sports-N-Games Specialist must love and embrace not only the camp environment but also the camp philosophy that campers come first, we work as a team, and summer is a time to play, learn, and grow. The Specialist will develop and implement all activity plans in the area Sports-N-Games and assure that activities are skill and age appropriate for all camp groups. This position provides the opportunity to develop core skills related to communication, mentorship, problem solving, and people management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The specialists' primary responsibility is to execute an engaging experience of a specific discipline within Sports-N-Games. Campers will circulate throughout the day to engage in your lesson plans and activities for the day. Activities planned should be age appropriate for children kindergarten through 9th grade. Working under the direction of the Camp Leadership Team, in this role, it is imperative to be able to make camp the best experience a child could ever dream of and will look back and remember for years to come.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Actively work with campers grades K-9 with and without disabilities, in an outdoor day camp setting.
- Develop a summer lesson plan binder for all 8 weeks of camp and inventory equipment prior to the start of summer camp.
- Create, analyze and implement skill and age appropriate sports and games activities for camp groups, daily.
- Introduce campers to different sports and games over the course of the summer including competitive and non-competitive activities such as cricket and tennis.
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Interact with and work as a team player with other staff and participants.
- Lead specialty activities with assistance from Counselors and help keep Counselors engaged and focused on the activity.
HOURS: *This role is a seasonal full time (40hrs per week) role. The ability to be flexible based on camp needs is required.* Pre-Camp Trainings: June 3rd, 10th, and 17th
Camp Assignment: July 3rd - August 25th
Typical Weekly Schedule can be: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm

- Must be 18 years or older.

- Currently enrolled in high school or pursuing of a degree in or a similar field, preferred.
