Greater Philadelphia Community Alliance is Hiring a Summer Program Instructor Near Philadelphia, PA

This is a part-time, temporary position.

Camp Dates - June 20th – August 5th

Monday – Fridays - 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Full-time; Temporary (June 17th –August 5th 2024) Non-exempt-$18/hour

Position Summary:

During the six-week summer session, Group Leaders will plan and implement student-driven, project-based activities that will incorporate relevant academic content and build 21st Century Skills, such as teamwork, collaboration, problem-solving and critical thinking. This is a great opportunity for someone seeking extra experience in education while maintaining a fun, safe, and enriching summer program environment. This is a great seasonal job opportunity for anyone seeking entry-level experience in youth out-of-school time programming.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage groups of youth to implement technology-focused project-based learning
  • Engage groups of youth to design and implement STEM-focused project-based learning, service-learning, and/or experiential learning projects
  • Supervise and mentor youth during recreational, physical, academic, and project-based programs
  • Communicate with parents
  • Enforce administration policies and rules governing students
  • Participate in team meetings, training and professional development opportune
  • Take attendance regularly for assigned group
  • Support the Site Director in maintaining accurate attendance data and report
  • Submit required data on time and accurately

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, and working with children.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma/GED required. Some college preferred
  • At least one year’s experience working with youth in an afterschool, day camp, or community programing setting.
  • Familiarity and experience with diverse populations and cultural competencies are strongly desired
  • Experience and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Power Point, Excel, One Drive etc.)
  • Experience and familiarity with using Zoom and other virtual meeting platforms.

  • Ability to be flexible and think outside of the box
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
