This position is at our location in Dayton on S Monmouth Street, Horizon Science Academy Dayton Downtown. HSA Dayton Downtown campus is seeking a full-time ELA/Social Studies Teacherl. The ELA/Social Studies Teacher will provide education to students in the 6th-8th grades in the general education setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides instruction to the student in a variety of individual and small group activities for the purpose of teaching, reinforcing instructional objectives and ensuring the student’s access to his/her least restrictive environment.
• Track student progress towards standards in ELA and in Social Studies. Provide instruction through Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions as needed
• Exercises self-control and perseverance when dealing with students.
• Supervises individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. recess supervision, restroom breaks, hallways, cafeteria, community field trips, bus loading areas, parking lots, classrooms, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
• Assists in supervising students during any and all emergency drills or during actual emergencies.
• Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
• Follow all School policies and procedures as stated in the Policies and Procedures Handbook.
• Contribute to a positive climate and culture by exhibiting high professional standards
• Any additional duties as determined by the Principal of the school.

CERTIFICATE/REQUIREMENTS:

• Obtain and maintain a teaching license though Ohio Department of Education; or obtained a bachelor degree in a related field (or higher) at a regionally accredited institution of higher education (evidence is an official transcript); or a valid Ohio Professional Educator License.
• Required criminal background check.
• Employment may require successful completion of online training courses in areas such as but not limited to: communicable disease, child abuse, CPR, first aid, student privacy, behavioral management training, etc.
• Experience in an educational setting preferred
