Instructional Coach - Mathematics

JOB TITLE: Middle School/High School Math Coach

REPORTS TO: Assigned administrator/supervisor


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid state department of education license/certificate as determined at the time of appointment.

  • Adheres to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.

  • Anticipates time constraints. Manages tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.

  • Complies with drug-free workplace rules, board policies and administrative guidelines/procedures.

  • Embodies high ethical standards/integrity. Accepts personal responsibility for decisions/conduct.

  • Exhibits consistent, impartial and resourceful decision-making skills. Interprets information accurately. Evaluates options thoroughly. Develops reasonable solutions to resolve issues.

  • Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.

Essential Functions

  • Organizes and delivers personalized and sustained professional development and learning activities for various stakeholder groups

  • Guides and supports stakeholders in the collection and analysis of data to guide instructional decisions that improve student outcomes

  • Observes teachers’ lessons and provides modeling, demonstration, and feedback for instructional improvement at the teachers’ request

  • Visits teachers’ classrooms and models lessons

  • Helps teachers with organizing and managing instructional programs

  • Meets with families who have concerns about their children

  • Works collaboratively with colleagues to support student needs and an equitable learning environment

  • Assists various stakeholders with planning and implementing with fidelity the delivery of evidence-based instructional and intervention programs

  • Identifies and addresses schoolwide instructional concerns in consultation with building leadership teams

  • Participates in professional learning activities or meetings to learn from each other and explore relevant topics of interest

  • Expands knowledge base and shares effective, proven strategies with stakeholder groups

  • Understands or is knowledgeable about local, state, and federal rules, regulations, and policies

  • Reviews curriculum materials and make suggestions for adoption or for supplementing instructional resources

  • Participates as a member of the Math Leadership Team, student growth meetings, grade level meetings and other district/building teams as needed

  • Leverages digital integration to advance student learning

  • Advises administrators on effective instructional practices based on research

  • Develops and maintains a resource repository of instructional materials and strategies aligned with the district’s math program and MTSS framework

  • Maintains the confidentiality of all participants in the coaching process
