POSITION SUMMARY :

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

This role is based at Greater Burlington YMCA and responsible for creating an environment conducive to play for children ages four (4) to ten (10) years old.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Participate actively in all aspects of day camp including craft, swim, and gym.
• Maintain visual and auditory supervision of camp participants.
• Responsible for the safety of all camp participants.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and conduct ongoing head counts of participants throughout camp activities.
• Execute emergency procedures promptly and effectively as required or deemed necessary to ensure the safety of participants, staff, and facilities.
• Report concerns to the Day Camp Director
• Communicate respectfully with all participants, staff, and families.
• Demonstrate a sense of maturity when working with participants and sensitive issues.
• Demonstrate leadership qualities for youth through character development, emphasizing evidence-based experiences that promote empathy, relationship building, emotion management, responsibility, and personal development, in and out of Y programs.
• Always maintain confidentiality.
• Develop appropriate relationships with participants.
• Demonstrate and teach the Y Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
• Experience working with children of varying ages, supporting growth, managing behavior, and maintaining a safe environment, preferred.
