Greater Baden Medical Services, Inc. is Hiring a Registered Nurse I Near Brandywine, MD

Job Summary: 

Functions as a clinical resource to insure that medical services are delivered in a safe and efficient manner, addressing patient needs as expeditiously as possible. The nurse utilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan implement and evaluate care at the center. The nurse is an integral part of the health care team who collaborates with other health team members and the center manager to facilitate patient flow. The nurse also insures that case management and ancillary services are provided as necessary. 

Essential Functions: 

1. Serves as a clinical team leader, and provides oversight of day-to-day clinical activities working closely with the center manager. Maintains communication with providers to facilitate patient flow. 

2. Provides recommendation to center manager for administrative and corrective actions of Administrative Medical Assistants, Clinical Medical Assistants and Medical Interpreters/Scanners. 

3. Provides clinical training to medical assistants, and supervises competency evaluations. 

4. Responsible for supervision of clinical telephone messaging at the center. Works with providers and center manager to insure that responses take place in an appropriate and timely manner. 

5. Provides direct nursing care to patients, including performing assessments, nursing procedures, and assistance with procedures. 

6. Provides health teaching and counseling to patients and families. This may include communication of test results, medication changes, etc. 

7. Assesses patient requests for same day services, and works with Providers and Center Manager to insure that patient needs are addressed appropriately. 

8. Expedites patient flow through the implementation of standing orders or policies for medication refills, referrals, and immunizations. Insures that clinical medical assistants are familiar with standing order protocols and follow them appropriately.

9. Manages the immunizations process, including inventory and record keeping. Insures that vaccines are stored properly. Supervises immunization administration process, and educates staff regarding proper technique and current recommendations. 

10. Manages the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program, to include, Provider enrollment and coordination of inactive sites.

11. Monitors laboratory services, including review of quality control, oversight of inventory and record keeping. Insures that supplies are stored properly. Supervises specimen collection process and in-house testing, and educates staff regarding proper technique and current recommendations. 

12. Supervises maintenance of medication and medical supply inventory, including monthly expiration process. Provides oversight of Patient Assistance Program.

13. Primary liaison between the Quality Director and Chief Medical Officer for immunization and vaccination best practices. Monitors compliance and reports issues to Center Manager.

14. Conducts immunization and vaccination audits at all GBMS center locations.

15. Provides ongoing staff development including orientation, competency testing and training consistent with GBMS needs, goals, and objectives.

16. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of the EMR, serves as a clinical resource. 

Nonessential Functions: 

1. Participates in team/staff meetings; attends in service meetings and applicable workshops. 

2. Completes other projects and duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer.

Minimum Qualifications 

1. Current Registered Nursing License in the State of Maryland. 

2. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or an equivalent field of study preferred. 

3. Insurability (malpractice) 

4. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR) 

5. ACLS or Advanced Life Support within 12 months of employment, if appropriate

This job operates in an outpatient office environment. This role is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and high stress situations or events.
