Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board Inc is Hiring a Health Insurance Exchange Navigator Near Rapid, SD

Job Summary

Under the supervision from the Program Manager, the Health Insurance Exchange Navigator will complete the required HHS-developed training program and pass an exam to ensure understanding of the Health Insurance Exchange related information. The Navigator will obtain and maintain expertise in eligibility, enrollment and program specification: Conducting public education activities to raise awareness of the Health Insurance Exchange (HIE) and Qualified Insurance Plans (QHP).

Essential Functions

Administrative

  • Essential Functions: The Navigator is responsible for outreach and recruitment, conducting HIE/QHP community health education at tribal events, assist with QHP enrollment by providing demonstrations and assistance to potential enrollees to access the HIE site, and attend meetings/trainings as required.
  • Ensure formal agreements, contracts, invoices, and purchase requests follow proper channels and are in accordance with the funding agency and GPTLHB policies/procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and complete program files.

  • Effectively plan, organize workload and schedule time to meet the demands of the position.
  • Work in a cooperative and professional manner with GPTLHB staff.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The characteristic demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is often required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Travel: Local and moderate out-of-town travel is required.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Minimum education required is an associate degree; bachelor level degree preferred in business administration, health administration or related field.
  • A minimum of one to three years of experience in office administration.
  • Strong computers skills, including Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience that indicates the ability to interact effectively with leaders among Indian communities, government agencies, scientific and academic communities, medical and health-related organizations, non-governmental groups and the public at large is required.
