Precision Ag Specialist - Assaria, KS

 
 Great Plains Manufacturing is currently seeking a Precision Ag Service Specialist in Assaria, KS. This role will support technology solutions on Great Plains implements with technical knowledge for the operation and troubleshooting of electrical/electronic systems. This position also helps to prepare field staff to support the products through documentation and direct training that will occur during the off-season. 

This is an on-site position that works typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from our corporate offices in Assaria, KS. Some travel may be required (up to 25%.) 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver “Best in Class” support for Precision Ag systems through the following activities:
    1. Timely response to inquiries for operational and repair knowledge. 
    2. Coordinate with field teams to research and resolve field issues as required. 
    3. Proactive interaction with sales to insure new product understanding.
    4. Timely documentation of field issues for product improvement purposes.
    5. Timely field visits with field service personnel to address urgent and chronic product issues.
    6. Work closely with the Electrical/Electronics engineering team to assist with product validation and testing[BO1] .
    7. Assist manufacturing with setup and troubleshooting electrical/electronic systems encountered during assembly.
  • Represent Great Plains Ag division in a manner keeping with our mission statement.
  • Act as an advocate of sales to insure appropriate response to product issues.
  • Participate as assigned with training, technical documentation, and other departments to ensure optimal knowledge transfer.
  • Train the field support staff under the direction of the Training Coordinator.
  • Follow all Great Plains policies and OSHA safety regulations and wears prescribed safety and protective equipment.
  • Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

Equipment Operation (% of time, description, nature of service):

  • 30% - Off-Highway Equipment, repair and operation.
  • 70% - Office Equipment including computer, copier, fax, phone, printer, etc.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically able to perform any repair on Precision Ag equipment produced or sold by Great Plains Manufacturing.
  • Must be physically able and licensed to operate cars and light trucks on public roadways in the United States. 
  • Must be physically able to conduct independent travel to any location inside or outside the United States.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Basic understanding of troubleshooting electrical/electronic systems. 
  • Working knowledge of Precision Ag systems and concepts.
  • Previous experience as a Precision Ag Specialist or Precision Agriculture Technician preferred
  • ISOBUS communication/control systems
  • Task controller functions
    1. Satellite positioning (GPS)
    2. Prescription mapping/variable rate control
    3. As applied mapping
    4. Section control
  • Ability to analyze journals, technical procedures, and regulations. 
  • Write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Hydraulic and electrical schematic interpretation.
  • Availability to travel throughout the US and abroad. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for assisting customers
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
