POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Child Care and in accordance with the Christian mission and purpose of the Great Miami Valley (GMV) YMCA Association, the Early Learning Center Director is responsible for overseeing the development and operations of the Early Learning Center and Preschool Enrichment program. The Early Learning Center Director is also responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting assigned staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.Assists in developing, implementing, and managing operating plans to promote program and membership growth for the YMCA. Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
2.Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Manages staff schedules and implements call off procedures.
3.Maintains high staff morale and low staff turnover.
4.Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
5.Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees/boards as assigned. Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.
6.Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
7.Ensures Step Up to Quality and CACFP is implemented in all proper programs.
8.Implements the educational programs for children, such as Creative Curriculum for preschool, assessments, screenings, HEPA standards and other programs.
9.Ensures high quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, evaluations and ongoing training of staff.
10.Assists in coordinating special events and activities.
11.Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs.
12.Maintains safe, clean and attractive center.
13.Assist in supervision of all kitchen staff and daily operations to ensure good, quality food in a professional manner.
14.Responsible for the program bookkeeper responsibilities of the program.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in child development, human services, social services, or equivalent preferred.
  • Three or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency
  • Certification requirements include: CPR/AED Adult, First Aid, YMCA new employee orientation, and YMCA Child Abuse Prevention and Recognition training is required within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Must meet all Center Administrator criteria as outlined in the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services licensing requirements.
  • Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations.
  • Must have ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising.
  • Possess the ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations. Must have a proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1.The incumbent must be able to frequently sit, use his/her hands and fingers, stand, walk, type, reach, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, kneel, climb a ladder, and climb a minimum of two flights of stairs multiple times each day. The incumbent must be able to lift and/or carry and move up to twenty-five pounds. Specific vision abilities require close, color, distance, peripheral, depth, perception, and ability to adjust focus.
2.Must have physical ability to respond to children quickly in emergency; regular kneeling, bending, or sitting.
3.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
