Great Lakes Reality Labs is currently seeking a Back End Web Developer to serve as the server side developer on all web application projects. 

The primary responsibilities of the Back End Web Developer include:

• Work in collaboration with the Front-End Developers, customer, system administrators and web designers to create an effective application
• Implement data protection and security protocols
• Design, implement and maintain database storage for web applications
• Write, debug and document code that runs on web server
• Optimize speed, efficiency, and scalability of web application
• Create components and features on tech server side, indirectly accessed by a user through front end application
• Create, maintain, test and debug entire back end

We are looking for someone who has:

• Foundations in computer science, algorithms, and web design
• Experience with core AWS web-enabling technology
• Experience with PostgreSQL
• Knowledge in server-side CSS pre-processors (i.e. LESS and SASS)
• Proficient knowledge in back end program language
• Strong understanding of the web development cycle and programming techniques
• Strong problem solving skills 
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal
• Maintain continuing education, knowledge of best practices, and understanding of all current and future programming languages
• Strong time management skills and ability to hit deadlines effectively

Bonus points if you have:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Programming, or Related Fields
• Basic understanding of front-end technology, frameworks, and platforms (i.e. JavaScript, HTMLs, CSS3)
• Node Experience
• Ability to sit at a desk for long periods of time
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

While we have a strong preference for candidates in Michigan, we are open to interviewing remote candidates for this role
