Court Reporting Network (CRN) Evaluator (Full Time)
We are seeking a CRN Evaluator to work with the Allegheny County Alcohol Highway Safety Program. The CRN Evaluator administers the Court Reporting Network evaluations to individuals who are being charged with Driving Under the Influence. Interaction with professional staff and with individuals with DUI offenses will be a major responsibility. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals looking to make a positive impact in their community and gain valuable experience in the public sector. This position is based within the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, Pretrial Services.

Who is the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Pretrial Services?
Pretrial Services is responsible for providing timely information to assist the court in making decisions regarding bond, competency, and treatment, and for promoting offender compliance with court orders and appearances.

You are a highly organized individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You are an excellent communicator with various levels of authority, including the public and act in a professional manner at all times.
What Will You Be Responsible For?
  • Administers the Court Reporting Network (CRN) Evaluation to those clients arrested for Driving Under the Influence in Allegheny County.
  • Conducts CRN evaluations as a pre-screening tool to determine who is in need of a comprehensive drug and alcohol assessment at a regional alcohol program.
  • Makes appropriate client program referrals to the DUI Program Providers.
  • Interacts with District Attorney’s Office, Probation Office, Regional Alcohol Program Providers, and various law enforcement agencies regarding client evaluations.
  • Interacts with other counties and states for cases in need of reciprocity and completes transfer case computer entry and paperwork.
What Background and Skills Does the Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Excellent interviewing skills.
  • Ability to deal with clients from various socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to deal with clients under the influence of alcohol and other drugs, resistant clients, and clients with cognitive, behavior or physical disabilities.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with interpreters and limited English proficient clients.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, along with knowledge of general office related equipment and computer systems.
  • Manual dexterity to perform job duties and a range of hearing/vision sufficient to participate in related duties.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or a minimum of two (2) year experience in a related Drug/Alcohol or Criminal Justice field. Prior clinical assessment experience preferred, but will not necessary; will train.
  • -OR- Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Pennsylvania Department of Transportation CRN Evaluator Certification (Appropriate training will be provided.)
  • Act 33, 34 and FBI clearances.

Job Location
This is an onsite, office position based at the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas in downtown Pittsburgh, PA.
