High School Science Teacher – Job Description

Grapevine Faith Christian School exists to develop and graduate authentic Christian leaders.

Position Summary:

Prayerfully help students think, live, love and lead as a Christian through the delivery of subject matter, skills, and attitudes that will contribute to the students’ development as mature, able, and responsible Christian men and women to the praise and glory of God. The teacher shall reflect the purpose of the school to honor Christ in every class and in every activity. The teacher will report to the departmental Administrator.

Status: Full-Time / Exempt / 10-month

Responsibilities:

  • Seeks to role model in speech, actions, and attitude, a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ.
  • Integrates Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum.
  • Demonstrates mastery of the subject material.
  • Employs a variety of instructional aides, methods, and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child: spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional.
  • Provides input and recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school.
  • Follows established school policies, procedures and guidelines in a spirit of positive cooperation.
  • Provide children with a safe, loving, and nurturing environment.
  • Assesses the learning of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Sets time aside for scheduling parent/student conferences to promote learning skills of the child.
  • Maintains a personal appearance that is a role model of cleanliness, modesty, and good taste.
  • Utilizes educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth and seeks the counsel of the administrator, colleagues, and parent and is teachable.
  • Teaches classes as assigned and scheduled by the administrator.
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students, challenging each to do his/her best work.
  • Prepares and submits weekly lesson plans for the administrator's review.
  • Shows support for the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their child’s education and assists them in the task.
  • Attends and participates in scheduled devotional, committee, and weekly faculty meetings.
  • Follows the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, administration, staff, and Board.
  • Maintain and uphold the religious standards of Faith Christian School to include the Lifestyle Statement, Staff Covenant and Statement of Faith.
  • Responsible to disciple, instruct and actively pray for the students on our campus.
  • Responsible to reinforce a Biblical Worldview in every workplace interaction with both students, staff and faculty.
  • Represents the school in a favorable and professional manner to the constituency and general public.
  • Other duties as assigned that are closely related.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a member in good standing of a Bible believing church and lead a mature Christian life.
  • Must possess and model a personal authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Must have experience teaching physics and/or biology.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established school policies and procedures, and the school mission and core values.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required with at least 5-7 years of previous teaching experience; a Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Uses acceptable English in written and oral communication. Speaks with clear articulation.
  • Must be knowledgeable about the subject matter specific to the teaching position.
  • Excellent technology skills and willing to adapt to technology changes.
  • Evidence of personal commitment to continuing professional development.

Work Schedule:

Approximately 177 Classroom instructional days.
Weekly staff meetings. (During school year)
Daily hours: Thirty (30) minutes before students arrive until Thirty (30) minutes after the students are dismissed for the day.
Attendance and participation in appropriate school events.

Additional staff development and in-service days.
