    Granite Technical Institute - CTE – Aviation Teacher - (1.0 FTE)
    Granite School District is accepting applications for a Secondary Teaching position for an Aviation instructor for the 202?-?? school year. The aviation instructor will be responsible for teaching the state approved curriculum for the courses with an emphasis on supporting students in building skills necessary for further training. Teachers who have been or who can be approved to teach concurrent enrollment coursework will be given priority. The teacher may be responsible for teaching the following courses both as a high school and a concurrent enrollment course:
    • Survey of Aviation
    • Private Pilot
    • Air Transportation
    • Drones 1

    Qualifications:
    Requires the following:
    • A valid Professional Educator License issue by the Utah State Board of Education with a Secondary or CTE License Area of concentration with an Aviation – Flight endorsement. All educators holding a professional educator license must also have a current FAA Certified Flight Instructor license (CFI) or Advanced Ground Instructor certificate (AGI).
    • A current FAA Certified Flight Instructor license (CFI) or Advanced Ground Instructor certificate (AGI).
    Please upload the following document(s) with your application depending on your licensure situation:
    • In and out-of-state applicants must upload a copy of their current state license with their application in order to be considered;
    • If approved for an Associate License, please upload your eligibility letter;

    • Maintain an orderly lab environment.
    • Work closely with concurrent enrollment supervisor to provide a rigorous college experience.

    • Work with Granite Technical Institute colleagues as well as other aviation colleagues from across the state to
    • Have a knowledge of current industry standards and certifications related to areas of instruction and ability to support students in gaining skills to pass these certifications.
    • Collaborate with industry partners to align classroom instruction with skill needs of employers.
    • Work with teachers of many disciplines to promote and improve student achievement.
    • Manage a high school learning environment and display exemplary teaching practice.
    • Use multiple formal and informal assessments to evaluate student academic progress
    • Be able to communicate student academic progress to parents through various formats.
    • Be willing to use technology to enhance student engagement.
    • Collaborate and work with other professionals in Professional Learning Communities.
    • Implement proficiency-based grading
    • Be able to build positive working relationships with students, school staff, administration, business partners, parents and the community.
    • Maintain an active Skills USA career and technical student organization.

    Job Summary
    Under the direction of the school principal, the classroom teacher is responsible for creating a positive learning environment where students develop the skills to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, lifelong learners and productive citizens. Teachers maintain a safe environment; establish rapport with students, parents and colleagues; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further education and do so in accordance with each student’s ability. Teachers differentiate curriculum and use effective research-based methods of instruction. Implement Proficiency-Based Grading in Student Evaluations.
    Essential Functions
    • Maintain a safe, orderly lab environment following all safety procedures.
    • Utilize lab equipment to apply concepts found in USBE’s CTE Core Curriculum/College Syllabus.
    • Maintain and inventory equipment.
    • Teach the core content area(s) outlined in the USBE’s Core Curriculum, and adopted by the Board of Education, correlated with other approved learning activities.
    • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the child.
    • Utilize effective teaching techniques in translating lesson plans into productive student learning experiences which best utilize the time available for instruction
    • Utilize computers and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction.
    • Supervision of students requires both indoor and outdoor responsibilities in all types of weather and air quality.
    • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom through organization and appropriate discipline strategies.
    • Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, maintain appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
    • Be familiar with and willing to implement Proficiency-Based Learning in evaluating students.
