Grange Co-op is Hiring an Internal Only**Store Manager - South Medford- Full time Near Medford, OR

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

Uphold the company’s mission and core values in all aspects of this role; oversee daily operations within an assigned retail location, as set forth by company; ensure company policies and business standards are followed; ensure store is proactive in achieving established budgets; maintain good relationships within the community; ensure store personnel represent and support the company; develop store personnel; approve and supervise training; analyze store merchandise and ensure adequate levels of inventory; approve daily financials; provide support and open communication to management team and store personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

I. OPERATIONS

  • Uphold all cooperative policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate the highest level of integrity and ethics in all decision-making
  • Ensure the Grange Way of customer service is provided by all employees
  • Clearly communicate goals and objectives to management team and employees
  • Review daily, weekly, and monthly reports and follow up as necessary
  • Delegate priorities to management team
  • Set schedule and agenda for monthly store meetings & safety meetings
  • Oversee opening/closing operational procedures
  • Work with Director of Retail Operations and management team to set annual store budget
  • Monitor daily, weekly and monthly sales and wages to stay within established budget
  • Maintain, encourage and model a safe work environment
  • Work with management team to establish daily lunch and breaks schedule
  • Review daily operational reports with management team and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Maintain open lines of communication with Director of Retail Operations
  • Respond quickly to customer complaints and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Oversee facility maintenance and ensure that the facility is properly maintained, cleaned and remains appealing to the public
  • Respond quickly to emails, phone calls and correspondence
  • Work with Loss Prevention Manager and Loss Prevention officers to reduce shrinkage and maintain the security of the retail location
  • Work with management team to develop daily operational task lists
  • Complete daily operational tours with management team to identify tasks that need to be completed and plan operational strategies
  • Work with Marketing Coordinator to ensure all promotions are executed correctly
  • Ensure the timely completion of the Monthly Operational Checklist
  • Prepare for and attend Retail, Merchandising & Marketing meetings

II. MERCHANDISING

  • Oversee the placement of merchandise, ensuring in-stock and product mix is seasonally correct and that the store is faced and well-maintained
  • Work with management team to ensure that displays are seasonally correct and generating sales
  • Ensure that management team is executing merchandising plans as directed
  • Review merchandise/inventory reports regularly with management team to identify sales trends and react to sales opportunities
  • Ensure prompt follow-up with customers on all special orders
  • Oversee daily flow of merchandise being received
  • Work with Retail Supply Chain to ensure correct product mix and plan-o-grams are set
  • Maintain profitability of assigned location

III. PEOPLE

  • Hire, train, and evaluate the work performance of employees and ensure the retention of high-performers
  • Develop employees for new roles and increased responsibility through encouragement of their ongoing growth and development
  • Enforce safety, health, and loss prevention policies and procedures
  • Ensure a high level of interaction with all employees and provide relevant and timely communication to employees that is critical to their roles
  • Promote a positive work environment, open line of communication, and quick follow-up and resolution to workplace issues and concerns
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures and compliance with local, state and federal employment laws
  • Write reports and provide written documentation about employees’ work performance in the form of documentation forms, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions
  • Plan and prepare work schedules and keep records of employees’ work schedules
  • In coordination with Human Resources, schedule employees for training classes and encourage participation at training events, seminars, and activities that will assist in employees’ development
  • In coordination with Human Resources, interview applicants in consideration of open positions and make job offers to qualified individuals
  • Review time off requests of employees and schedule appropriately for employee absences
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position has supervisory responsibility of all retail store personnel, consisting of up to 50 direct reports at any given time.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and a minimum of 3 years supervisory experience, supervising a team of 20 direct reports. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
