Acts as a liaison for the financial counselors working with the physician offices as well as patient access and pre-registration staff to coordinate with patients regarding insurance coverage and hospital's payment policy. Maintains a general understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and other third party payer rules. Works with health insurance providers to determine coverage and benefit limits. Meet with patient during hospitalization prior to discharge to discuss financial arrangements, obligations, and options. Provide price estimates for patients. Process financial assistance (charity) applications. Receive and process patient payments. High school diploma or its equivalent required. 3 years of experience preferred.
Must possess problem-solving skills of the type and at a level necessary to accomplish the job. Must demonstrate good time management and organizational skills. Must be able to communicate effectively within the organization verbally and in writing. Must be able to relate professionally, positively and cooperatively with staff and public. Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance. Must meet the physical demands of the position. Must be capable of performing essential job functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodations. Must possess computer skills of the type and at a level necessary to accomplish specific job duties and assignments. Must meet competency requirements upon hire and as needed.
