Grand View Health is Hiring a Lead Phlebotomist Near Sellersville, PA

Schedule: Full Time, Variable - Sunday to Saturday, variable start times between 5am & 7am, responsible for inpatient, outpatient & nursing home patients


Responsibilities

The Lead Phlebotomist coordinates activities of the phlebotomy staff, including quality and quantity of work, staffing and inventory control, to facilitate the flow of patients and patient specimens for consistent quality care.
Essential Functions:
  • Prepares staffing schedules that are adequate to provide uncompromised levels of service.
  • Interviews and recommends candidates for new or vacant positions in order to maintain section viability.
  • Ensures that procedure manuals are current and reviewed annually to comply with regulatory agencies.
  • Oversees and documents training of new employees.
  • Maintains a sufficient inventory of routine departmental supplies so that emergency orders are not necessary.
  • In conjunction with the laboratory manager, assists in the employee evaluation process to promote staff development.
  • In order to monitor section and laboratory productivity, provides correct and complete workload statistics.
  • Operates section in the most cost-effective manner possible to support the overall financial structure of the institution.
  • Accurately communicates information from supervisory or other meetings to section personnel in a timely fashion so that the staff is kept abreast of current events.
  • Monitors current quality assurance indicators to ensure quality patient care.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma/GED and over 5 to 7 years of clinical laboratory experience required.
  • Completion of phlebotomy program and no experience in lieu of ASCP certification required.
  • 1 year of leadership experience preferred.
