Grand Rapids Chamber is Hiring an Events Coordinator Near Grand Rapids, MI

Position Summary:

The Events Coordinator plans, manages, and executes assigned Chamber events and programs with a focus on member value and experience. This position requires superior organization skills, great attention to detail, and the ability to manage their time effectively to meet multiple deadlines. This position is a member of the Marketing and Events team, which is responsible for managing over 150 events and programs annually.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Manages the execution of assigned Chamber events and programs with a focus on member value and experience.

2. Leads event project management process to align stakeholder ideas, needs, and deliverables to meet experience and budget objectives.

3. Works collaboratively with internal program managers and marketing team to establish and promote program vision and goals.

4. Responsible for managing logistics for events and programs, including vendor, contract negotiations, venue and resource management.

5. Collaborates with vendors, contractors, Chamber volunteers, staff and interns to ensure event roles/needs are met before, during and after the event.

6. Maintains updated database information, including event set-up, caterers, venues, décor, etc.

7. Provides technical support and manages logistics for virtual events.

8. Performs post-event duties including surveys and recap meetings to receive member feedback and foster continuous improvement.

9. Manages event set up, registration and tear down as needed.

10. Integrates the Chamber’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goals within business services programs, talent development programs and initiatives.

11. Actively demonstrates commitment to the Chamber’s vision, mission, and organizational goals.

Non-Essential Responsibilities:

1. Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received:

Specific Direction: Follows established work procedures. Receives periodic checks for performance. Refers unique questions/conditions to immediate supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No supervision: No supervisory responsibilities.

Education & Experience:

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

2. Experience in event management or related experience.

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1. Have proven computer competencies, including Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel) and Zoom..

2. Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, and implement events.

3. Must be organized, detail oriented, and able to meet deadlines.

4. Ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal and external colleagues.

5. Strong work ethic and ability to exercise independent judgment.

6. Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

7. Problem solving skills and exceptional creativity.

8. Ability to challenge the standard thinking with new ideas, approaches, and solutions.

10. Familiarity with business culture.

11. Knowledge of databases and use of databases.

12. Create a positive impression of the Chamber.

14. Flexible schedule that allows event attendance in evenings or early mornings.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.50 - $24.00 per hour
