Grammarly is Hiring a Lifecycle Marketing Specialist, Retention/Monetization Near San Francisco, CA

Grammarly team members in this role must be based in the United States, and they must be able to collaborate in person 2 weeks per quarter, traveling if necessary to the hub(s) where the team is based.

The opportunity

Grammarly is the world’s leading AI writing assistance company trusted by over 30 million people and 70,000 professional teams every day. From instantly creating a first draft to perfecting every message, Grammarly’s product offerings help people at 96% of the Fortune 500 get their point across—and get results. Grammarly has been profitable for over a decade because we’ve stayed true to our values and built an enterprise-grade product that’s secure, reliable, and helps people do their best work—without selling their data. We’re proud to be one of Inc.’s best workplaces, a Glassdoor Best Place to Work, one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential Companies, and one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in AI.

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for a Lifecycle Marketing Specialist to join our Lifecycle Marketing Team.

The Lifecycle Marketing team shepherds Grammarly users through a personalized journey, ensuring that they’re extracting maximum value from our products. We do so by delivering messaging that is on-brand and highly targeted to build and retain trust with our customers. We’re looking for a Lifecycle Marketing Specialist to join the Activation Team within Lifecycle Marketing to create and manage campaigns that drive results across our various Grammarly customer segments.

The Lifecycle Marketing Specialist will execute and optimize our campaign calendar, ticketing requests, email deployments, and related processes supporting Grammarly's Lifecycle Marketing strategies.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Coordinating cross-functional projects and campaigns between marketing, sales, product, engineering, data science, marketing operations, and IT teams. This includes project planning, proactive communication, expectation setting and management, training, and documentation.
  • Own the day-to-day execution of email, in-app, and push campaigns, including building, scheduling, and testing.
  • Managing systems: efficiencies, troubleshooting, reaching a level of mastery to take advantage of features.
  • Pulling and analyzing data and reporting on campaigns and experiments.
  • Supporting Lifecycle Marketing Managers in planning and executing multi-touch campaigns across email, in-app messaging, and push channels.
  • Supporting the team with internal project documentation and cross-team communication to keep stakeholders informed and involved.
  • End-to-end project management of various Lifecycle projects that roll up to support quarterly business objectives.

The ultimate measures of success will be quality of work, efficiency, and readiness to scale, including precise campaign QA, execution on the lifecycle roadmap, project management, increased experimentation velocity, and collaboration with key stakeholders. We'll balance time and resources to address near-term challenges while investing in long-term growth opportunities.

Your impact

As a Lifecycle Marketing Specialist, you will play an important role in growing this business by enabling key campaigns and programs, driving process improvement, improving how we understand performance (data), and empowering our B2B lifecycle strategy from the very early stage. You will be very collaborative, supporting the Monetization team in driving conversions from free to paid across B2B and B2C segments and driving upsells and renewals. In the long term, you will influence and own a broader scope of the lifecycle marketing roadmap, driving impact across the entire spectrum of our customer lifecycle.

This role will require cross-functional partnerships with several teams and stakeholders unfamiliar with the B2B landscape and marketing requirements. Therefore, the person in this role will need to be comfortable educating partners, building a business, and building upon much more limited data than our consumer business. The path forward is often ambiguous or unclear. You are comfortable blazing the technology trail for a new product, line of business, strategy, and team.

The Lifecycle Marketing Specialist will contribute to Grammarly's expansion from a consumer-only business to a dual B2C/B2B technology company.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with experienced marketing partners with 20 years combined experience who love to share skills and mentor.
  • Work with massive data sets (which allow for getting to statistical significance faster).
  • Establish an operational center of excellence within Lifecycle and be a thought leader.
  • Work across a wide variety of channels, stakeholders, and project types (build model, analyze data, advise channel managers, set up experiments).

We’re looking for someone who

  • Embodies our EAGER values—is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
  • Is inspired by our MOVE principles, which are the blueprint for how things get done at Grammarly: move fast and learn faster, obsess about creating customer value, value impact over activity, and embrace healthy disagreement rooted in trust.
  • Is able to collaborate in person 2 weeks per quarter, traveling if necessary to the hub where the team is based.
  • Has the ability to analyze data to understand campaign performance and customer behavior and identify opportunities for optimization and growth.
  • Understands customer lifecycle stages and ability to strategize campaigns that move users from awareness through to loyalty.
  • Has proficiency in executing and optimizing email campaigns, as well as familiarity with in-app and push notification marketing.
  • Is able to coordinate campaigns and projects cross-functionally with other departments, such as marketing, sales, product, engineering, and data science,
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously, from planning through execution and analysis.
  • Has familiarity with marketing automation and analytics tools, CRM systems, and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize marketing systems and processes.
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills to manage stakeholder expectations, document processes, and articulate campaign insights and recommendations.
  • Is comfortable with ambiguity and a proactive approach to problem-solving and creating new strategies for onboarding and activation.
  • Understands how to create personalized, customer-focused campaigns that resonate with different segments.

Our remote-first hybrid model enables a highly collaborative culture supported by our EAGER (ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable) values. We work to foster belonging among team members in a variety of ways. This includes our employee resource groups, Grammarly Circles, which promote connection among those with shared identities, such as BIPOC and LGBTQIA team members, women, and parents.
